What the vehicle class means
Class 1 covers motorcycles with an engine size up to 200cc. Class 2 covers motorcycles over 200cc. A centre that only tests Class 4 cars is not automatically authorised to test motorcycles, so check the class badges and confirm with the station before booking.

How much is a motorcycle MOT?▼
The current maximum fee is £29.65 for a standard motorcycle. The GOV.UK maximum for a motorcycle with a sidecar is £37.80. Test centres can charge less than the maximum.
What is the difference between Class 1 and Class 2?▼
Class 1 covers motorcycles up to 200cc, while Class 2 covers motorcycles over 200cc. Both classes can appear on a station's authorisation.
Do all MOT garages test motorbikes?▼
No. Motorcycle testing requires Class 1 or Class 2 authorisation. Use the class filter on each town or city page and call the centre before travelling.
When does a motorcycle need its first MOT?▼
